The Girl in the Scarf...

I have been looking at many photos from many sources studying females of different facial structures from all over the world. I love the subtle shapes of different noses, eyes, and the delicate tones of diversity in complexion. I have drawn a Japanese geisha or two in my day, but always feel they are so austere...and I have been searching for other exotic women to sketch. Here is a face I found...

I enjoyed sketching her because I was given the opportunity to study her hand and nose, and finish her out in the lovely colors reminiscent of Morocco or Egypt. She reminds me of an exotic traveler...

She is 11x14" on 300 lb Strathmore coldpress watercolor paper that has been stained with tea and watercolor washes, sketched out in colored pencils with some bright color drips. I have placed her in my Etsy shop for a very low price with shipping included, in hopes she will add a sense of wanderlust to someone's space...
